Dr. Tonatiuh “Tony” Signoret is a lifelong educator, community leader, and dedicated advocate for children and families. With more than 35 years in public education, Tony served as a teacher, principal, Assistant Superintendent, and ultimately as the first Latino Superintendent of the Palm Springs Unified School District, retiring in 2025.

A Palm Springs resident since 1993, Tony has devoted his career to supporting students, strengthening schools, and building strong relationships throughout the community. Having served at nearly every level within PSUSD, he thoroughly understands both the complex opportunities and practical challenges facing local schools and families.

Raised in Mexico City and completely fluent in Spanish, Tony brings a crucial bicultural perspective and a lifelong commitment to educational equity and student success. His leadership has earned numerous high-tier recognitions, including the Palm Springs Mayor’s Award and multiple top honors from the Association of California School Administrators.

A Deeply Personal Commitment to Family

"Beyond his professional career, Tony’s greatest pride is his family. Together, Tony and his wife Silvia opened their home to more than 30 foster children, adopted 8, and raised a beautiful family of 10 children. Their direct experiences as foster-adoptive parents shaped Tony’s profound core conviction that every single child deserves support, protection, and an educator who believes unconditionally in them."

That experience reinforced a core lifelong guiding truth: student success is deeply rooted within the proactive physical security and structural integration of the entire community. From that point forward, Tony committed himself to visiting nearly 1,000 localized classrooms, matching strategic oversight with human connection.
